The Lifting Director is a highly experienced crane operator and lifting operations leader, assigned to the Safety Department to ensure the highest standards of safety and technical excellence in all lifting activities across complex, mission-critical projects. This role combines deep field expertise in crane operations, rigging, and heavy lifts with the leadership and oversight responsibilities of a safety director. The Lifting Safety Director is responsible for planning, supervising, and verifying all lifts, mentoring safety managers and operators, and ensuring that all lifting operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and project requirements. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the subject matter expert and technical authority for all crane and lifting operations on site. • Lead and supervise a team of lifting safety managers across multiple buildings and construction phases. Whom personally oversee and direct lifts, and high-risk rigging activities. • Develop and review lift plans, including selection of cranes, rigging gear, and methods for complex and heavy lifts. • Conduct and document pre-lift meetings, SafeState reviews, and equipment readiness verifications. • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, ANSI, ISO 45001, and project-specific standards for lifting and rigging. • Mentor and train safety managers, operators, and riggers in advanced lifting techniques, hazard recognition, and incident prevention. • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis for lifting-related events. • Coordinate and facilitate lifting safety training, onboarding, and skills assessments for all personnel involved in crane and rigging operations. • Track and report lifting safety performance metrics to project and senior leadership. • Support emergency response planning and drills specific to crane and lifting incidents. • Serve as the primary contact for regulatory inspections and external stakeholders regarding lifting operations. • Drive best practice sharing and continuous improvement in lifting safety and operational performance. • • Oversee the implementation of non-crane lifting plan program, ensuring all lifts are planned, documented, and executed according to company and regulatory standards. Qualifications: Education: • High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field, Construction Management, Engineering, or Occupational Safety (preferred) • Master's degree or advanced safety/management education (preferred) Certifications: • NCCCO (or equivalent) Certified Crane Operator - Required • Advanced Rigging Certification - Required • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) - Preferred • OSHA 30-Hour Certification - Required • First Aid/CPR Certification - Required • Additional certifications (e.g., Lift Director, ASP, CIH) - a plus Experience: • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience as a crane operator, lift director, or rigging supervisor on large-scale construction or industrial projects. • Demonstrated expertise in planning and executing critical lifts, multi-crane operations, and heavy rigging. • At least 3 years in a safety leadership or management role, preferably within a safety department. • Strong knowledge of lifting and rigging processes, equipment inspection, and regulatory compliance. • Proven experience in training, audits, root cause analysis, and hazard control implementation. Additional Notes: Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
