Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Clinical Instructor, Surgery, Breast Surgery

In this role, you will work collaboratively with our breast surgery team to provide care for patients with breast cancer as well as other non-cancerous breast disease. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will be entrusted with evaluating and treating selected patients within this service area. You may also be involved with quality improvement, research, and educational activities.
Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
Interprets laboratory and test results.
Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
This is mostly an outpatient position, but there may be rare occasions for inpatient care, such as rounds, discharge planning, discharge summaries, and prescriptions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs, ARC-PA) program.
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the New York State Department of Education.
Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Minimum 2 years experience as a Physician Assistant.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - NURSE PRACTITIONER:
Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the New York State Department of Education.
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing and graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
National Practitioner Certification issued by the National Certification Corporation (NCC), the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the Nurse Practitioner Certification Board (AANPCB).
Minimum 2 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
Breast surgery experience (at least 2 years).
