POSITION TITLE: Community Outreach Coordinator Wake County DATE: February 2025REPORTS TO: Director of Outreach POSITION STATUS: Non-Exempt (Hourly) GRADE: A0-A2 ($26.25-$27.69/hr) LOCATION: Remote (Wake County, NC) HOURS: 20 hours per weekCORE COMPETENCIES Accountability, Collaboration, Effective Communication, Values Differences, Attends to Details POSITION OVERVIEW The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders who can help SMART Recovery increase its accessibility and availability to all residents of Wake County, North Carolina. Of particular importance is outreach to communities hardest hit by overdose deaths, as well as communities of color and other communities underserved by SMART Recovery and society in general. The outreach professional will be organized in their efforts, providing updates to management on a regular basis and participating in updates to Mecklenburg County personnel, as needed. This is a time-limited grant-funded position through June 2027, with the possibility of future employment dependent on securing additional funds. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Complete the SMART Recovery Facilitator and Family & Friends live Zoom training (if have not competed already)Develop a detailed outreach strategy for Wake County with management, leveraging existing SMART relationships and connections in the county. Contact community stakeholders throughout Wake County, and especially in identified communities, to include recovery community organizations, recovery homes, drop-in centers, treatment facilities, correctional facilities, re-entry programs, community substance use coalitions, behavioral health hospitals, drug courts, diversion programs, educational entities, and faith-based organizations, to educate them about SMART Recovery and get individuals signed up for grant-funded SMART meeting facilitator training. Attend community events in identified communities, tabling and/or making presentations about SMART Recovery when possible. Organize and plan events to inform the community about SMART, to build connections and community with volunteers and new trained facilitators in the Wake County area.Support newly-trained facilitators in getting new meetings established successfully by providing materials, ongoing community of practice support meetings, and connections to support available through the SMART Recovery National Office. Collaborate with the training department to organize and schedule trainings of new facilitators.Respond promptly and courteously to all outreach inquiries received from individuals and organizations in Wake County. Record all outreach contacts and activities in HubSpot. Track and report all authorized expenses to the finance department.Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications regarding the content and placement of outreach materials and advertisements in identified communities. Report on outreach activities to the Executive Director on a regular basis. Participate in weekly support check-ins with the Director of Outreach.Participate in progress update presentations to funding stakeholders, as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Comfort with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Power Point. Additional training will be provided, as needed.
