We’re seeking a Paralegal (Utilities) for a hybrid contract opportunity with a major organization in the energy and utilities sector. This role supports regulatory filings, discovery responses, and rate case activities within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This is a long-term contract (Dec 2025 – Aug 2026) based in Charlotte, NC with occasional local travel. Paralegal (Utilities) Responsibilities: Support discovery responses, supplemental filings, and rebuttal documentation for regulatory proceedings. Review and analyze discovery databases to prepare responses, interrogatories, and rate case amendments. Assess and inventory rate case documents, matrices, and supporting data. Conduct fact-finding aligned with applicable state regulatory procedures to prepare case documentation. Maintain organized document repositories, libraries, and rate case volumes. Coordinate meetings with internal teams and external experts to support case deliverables. Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for rate case filings. Perform data analytics and document analysis similar to forensic accounting. Utilize Excel, SharePoint, and (preferably) Power BI to analyze and organize case data. Paralegal (Utilities) Requirements: Utility industry experience required, including familiarity with state regulatory rate case processes. Strong expertise in Microsoft Excel (testing required), plus proficiency in Word and SharePoint. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and organize large datasets. Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple documentation streams. Strong coordination and communication skills. Ability to travel locally within Charlotte and occasionally to Raleigh.
