What's a typical day as a Structural Mechanic II? Safely perform assembly, fitting, and riveting of structural and sheet metal parts while ensuring all assemblies meet quality and safety standards.
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine correct assembly sequences and specifications.
Use and maintain tools such as riveting guns, drills, countersinks, and reamers to perform precise structural work, including fastener installation and removal.
Align and assemble parts using jigs, clamps, and fixtures, forming complex angles and configurations according to blueprints or verbal instructions.
Instruct and assist team members in interpreting drawings and resolving production or installation challenges.
Properly use and return company tools, dispose of waste materials safely, and follow standard operating procedures for ground support equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure accurate daily job charging and shift turnover communication.
High School Diploma or GED required
~2 years related structural assembly experience
~ Basic computer skills and basic shop math skills
~ Read and comprehend basic documents and instructions
~ Must have essential personal skills, including an aptitude for hands-on craftwork, a professional attitude, attention to detail, ability to work with people, and the ability to meet demanding schedules
~ Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices
~ Ability to work with composite resins and materials
~ Must be able to work any shift
