Fishtank Learning is growing rapidly and has built a five-year business plan aimed at scaling the organization's impact to serve over 1,500 schools and 600,000 students, enhancing its core curriculum and implementation support offerings, and leveraging technology to offer a best-in-class digital curriculum experience.
Fishtank is seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to be our first Managing Director of Product. The development and evolution of Fishtanks digital platform

The strategy and development of Fishtank Student, our new student-facing platform
The Managing Director of Product will ensure Fishtanks platform delivers a high-quality, intuitive user experience that supports teacher success and drives school adoption. They will oversee the product function, including platform development, user experience, data & research, and strategic vendor partnerships. Simultaneously, they will oversee the digital content operations, ensuring Fishtanks curriculum is delivered effectively through the platform.
As the organization scales, this leader will bring strategic focus to how our platform meets educator and student needs, supports instructional goals, and integrates emerging technologies to keep Fishtank at the forefront of digital curriculum delivery. The Managing Director of Product will oversee the engineering team, the product management function, and manage key team members responsible for platform support and digital content operations along with external consultants, while also building and scaling Fishtanks internal product team over time. A key focus will be leveraging innovative technologies, including AI-powered solutions, to enhance the platforms capabilities and maintain Fishtanks competitive edge.
Over time, this role will build and oversee Fishtanks data and research function, using analytics and user insights to continuously improve the product and demonstrate impact.
Some travel (no more than four times per year) may be required.
This role reports directly to the CEO and will play a critical role in building Fishtanks long-term product function and organizational impact.
Oversee Fishtanks product function, including platform strategy, development, UX, data & research, and vendor partnerships.
Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Fishtanks curriculum platform and digital content experience.
Lead the continued development of Fishtank Student, including supporting its launch, ongoing iteration, and long-term visionensuring it becomes a powerful instructional tool and a key differentiator in the market.
Identify and integrate innovative technologies, including AI-powered solutions, to enhance platform capabilities and maintain Fishtanks competitive edge.
Directly manage the Senior Web Developer, the Curriculum Product Director, Platform Support Specialist, and external consultants.
Build and scale the internal product team over time by hiring new staff members and consultants and supporting their onboarding and development.
Oversee digital content management, ensuring seamless coordination between curriculum content, platform features, and user experience.
Facilitate the annual and quarterly planning process for the product and content management teams, maintain a detailed product roadmap, and plan and facilitate weekly product team meetings.
Data & Research and Product Execution
Lead platform development in partnership with internal teams and external tech vendors, ensuring alignment with educator needs and instructional priorities.
Build and oversee Fishtanks data, research, and user insights function to understand how teachers and students engage with the platform, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure impact over time.
Establish product development processes, documentation, and KPIs to track progress and impact.
Collaborate with Curriculum teams to ensure platform features support instructional goals and teacher workflows.
Partner with the Implementation Support and School Partnerships teams to develop tools and features that enhance partner onboarding, training, and ongoing support.
Work closely with the Marketing and Sales teams to ensure the product team provides the right resources and context to support the sales cycle and inform partners of platform enhancements.
Bachelors degree required; 812+ years of product leadership experience, including at least 3 years managing product teams or cross-functional platform development, with a strong track record of success in product management in an entrepreneurial environment.
~ Prior product management experience in SaaS and/or EdTech environments required.
~ Experience working directly with engineers to lead product development.
~ Expertise in user experience, SaaS metrics, and product development processes, including roadmaps, feature prioritization, and market-fit analysis.
~ Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders with exceptional operational management skills.
~ Strong people management skills with experience hiring, developing, and scaling high-performing teams.
~ Experience evaluating and integrating AI technologies into digital products preferred.
~ Experience building or managing data and research functions, including identifying key user insights and data needs to inform product development and continuous improvement.
~ Creative and resourceful problem solver with a bias toward action.
