Washington DC, United States Oracle Full time

Software Development Sr. Director, OCI For a complete understanding of this opportunity, and what will be required to be a successful applicant, read on. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission‑critical applications for top‑tier enterprises worldwide. Our cloud offers unmatched hyper‑scale, multi‑tenant services deployed in over 50 regions globally. OCI is expanding beyond traditional public cloud boundaries to include dedicated, hybrid, multi‑cloud, edge computing, and more. In the Technical Strategy and Oversight (TSO) organization, the mission is to support customer choice, transparency, and value for cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on ambitious initiatives such as building high‑performance primitives, frameworks for OCI developers, and a container runtime that supports all OCI services, including mission‑critical tier‑one offerings. Additional initiatives include canonical core component implementations for data planes, persistent remote storage with NVMe‑like performance, and tools for identifying critical performance improvements across OCI data‑planes. This work aims to enhance engineering efficiency by concentrating expertise on low‑level, high‑performance systems adopted across core cloud services. We are looking for a leader who has built high‑scale cloud infrastructure services, balancing business impact with deep technical excellence. You will grow and guide globally distributed teams, own the design, delivery, and operation of mission‑critical systems, and demonstrate judgment balancing new feature delivery with incremental improvements. This role blends technical depth with organizational leadership—mentoring managers and principal engineers, while also rolling up your sleeves to dive into architecture and execution when needed. If you are energized by shaping a greenfield 0→1 initiative and defining the future of cloud infrastructure, this role offers the scope and impact to do so. Responsibilities Define and drive the technical, product, and organizational strategy for one or more charters within Light‑weight Infrastructure (Core Compute, Connectivity & State, Observability & Governance). Lead a diverse, globally distributed team to design and deliver 0→1 services. Hire and develop top engineering talent (both managers and ICs) to build a high‑performing team. Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and high professional standards. Communicate effectively across the organization—from engineers to architects to executives. Mentor teams through architecture and security reviews. Establish practices that drive continuous improvement in engineering execution, leadership, and technical excellence. Qualifications Minimum of 6 years at a senior management level, with experience managing managers and staff engineers. 7+ years of relevant distributed systems or cloud services experience. BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field. Experience in compute virtualization, cloud scale storage systems, or cloud networking. Strong business and communication skills. Exceptional leadership and people‑management skills. Solid understanding of core cloud infrastructure—compute, virtual networking, and storage. Strong distributed systems architecture and design skills. Benefits & Compensation US hiring range: $122,500 – $291,800 per year. Eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral. Oracle US offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes: Medical, dental, and vision insurance (including expert medical opinion). Short‑term and long‑term disability. Life insurance and AD&D. Supplemental life insurance (Employee/Spouse/Child). Health‑care and dependent‑care Flexible Spending Accounts. Pre‑tax commuter and parking benefits. 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan with company match. Paid time off: Flexible vacation for salaried employees, prorated vacation accrual based on hours worked, 11 paid holidays, and 72 hours paid sick leave. Paid parental leave, adoption assistance. Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Financial planning and group legal services. Voluntary benefits including auto, homeowner, and pet insurance. Benefits and compensation are tailored to the individual's role, location, and experience. Applicants are typically considered for at least three calendar days from the posting date, or until the job remains posted. Oracle is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr
