Interim Vice President of Human Resources
LHH is partnering with a respected mission-driven organization to identify an Interim Vice President of Human Resources. This highly confidential role supports a nonprofit environment undergoing organizational transition and cultural evolution. The Interim VP of HR will provide steady leadership, guide change initiatives, and strengthen HR operations while partnering closely with executive leadership.
The Interim Vice President of Human Resources will oversee the full spectrum of HR operations, including labor relations, talent management, employee relations, organizational development, compliance, DEI, compensation, and policy oversight. This leader will help foster a positive, inclusive, and transparent workplace while ensuring HR programs and systems remain compliant with California employment regulations.
Provide strategic HR leadership during a time of transition and organizational change.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on workforce planning and HR strategy.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for a diverse employee population.
Oversee performance management processes and coach managers on development and accountability.
HR Operations & Policy Management
Ensure HR policies, practices, and systems are current, compliant, and well-communicated.
Oversee compensation and benefits programs aligned with organizational values and equity.
Improve HR processes, documentation, and data integrity.
Employee Relations, Compliance & Risk
Manage complex employee relations issues with discretion and sound judgment.
Lead workplace safety, risk mitigation, and compliance efforts.
Navigate union environments, partnering effectively with labor representatives as needed.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
~ Champion DEI efforts and embed inclusive practices within HR processes and organizational culture.
Budget & Administrative Oversight
~ Lead HR budgeting, workforce planning, and departmental administration.
15+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least six years in a senior leadership role.
~ Union labor relations experience strongly preferred.
~ Proven ability to support cultural transformation and organizational change.
~ Strong interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills.
~ Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
~ Proficiency with HRIS systems and HR analytics.
