Job Title: Packaging Supervisor Location: Arabi, LA

Overview
The Packaging Supervisor oversees sugar production and packaging operations during assigned shifts. This role leads teams of specialized union employees while ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety requirements, regulatory standards, and quality expectations. The supervisor will be responsible for meeting production targets, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
Lead and manage hourly union employees to achieve departmental goals.
Ensure production meets or exceeds established rates while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Conduct regular shift meetings covering safety, production updates, quality, and other key information.
Train, monitor, and evaluate employee performance; recommend and implement performance improvement actions.
Analyze production requirements to plan worker hours and create schedules that meet internal and external demands.
Production & Quality Control
Calculate material and supply needs based on production schedules and coordinate retrieval from storage.
Ensure finished products meet company specifications, initiating corrections when necessary.
Coordinate material flow into and out of production areas in alignment with schedules.
Inspect products to ensure conformance to specifications.
Guide workers on machine adjustments, repairs, and maintenance when production issues arise.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Lead assigned teams in continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct safety audits and ensure all safety policies are followed.
Develop and recommend improvements to production methods, equipment efficiency, and overall product quality.
Complete and submit all required production, quality, and safety documentation in accordance with company standards.
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure customer deadlines and order requirements are met.
Work Experience Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial food manufacturing or production environment supervising union employees.
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) required.
Experience with industrial electrical systems, computer operations, PLC programming, mechanical troubleshooting, and supervisory responsibilities is preferred.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Bachelors degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Technical Sciences preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility
~ Assists in supervising approximately 80 hourly employees in a unionized environment.

Essential Capabilities (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Attributes)
Strong, quantifiable leadership skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strong ability to train, mentor, and develop others
