The *Preventive Maintenance heavy diesel equipment mechanic* is an hourly-rated skilled position whose primary function is performing a variety of skilled maintenance tasks involving minor and major mechanical service to heavy equipment, *paving equipment*, trailers, and other power-driven equipment. They should be able to examine, locate, and repair mechanical issues.

*Duties and Responsibilities for Heavy Equipment Mechanic*

* *Performs preventive maintenance* and repairs of equipment include wheel/ track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, field service equipment, and material handling equipment and paving equipment.
* Accomplish minor repairs and perform services as outlined in established technical manuals.
* Perform inspections and repair on breaks, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.
* Understands and follows technical manuals, lube orders, wiring, and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.
* Performs major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, removal, and installation of assemblies and installation of components.

*Knowledge and Experience*

* This *position is not *an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a heavy diesel equipment mechanic.
* High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), or trade school preferred.
* 5 (five) years prior experience working as a mechanic.
* Knowledge of all aspects of repair, including but not limited to engine, computer, transmission, clutch, breaks, etc.
* Must have a thorough knowledge of all types of equipment the operation such as dirt-moving, pipework, and asphalt paving.
* Cat ET & SIS, Pro SIS (Volvo) experience.
* Basic skills in Oxy/ Acetylene torch.
* Basic stick welding
* Driver’s license and DOT card

*Salary*

* It depends on the experience and will be discussed during the interview process.
* $27-30 dollars per hour.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
