As a member of the Academic Technology Services group and reporting to its director, the Instructional Technologist consults with faculty on the wide spectrum of educational technologies. The Instructional Technologist helps faculty to assemble and manage effective learning environments and introduce appropriate technologies that provide noted pedagogical value in support of specific curricular goals. The Instructional Technologist will also serve as a key liaison to other curricular support groups at the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional Design and Support:

  • Collaborate with faculty to design and develop high-quality, technology-enhanced instructional materials and courses.

  • Provide pedagogical and technical support for integrating technology into the curriculum.

  • Conduct needs assessments and recommend appropriate technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Training and Development:

  • Develop and deliver workshops, training sessions, and one-on-one consultations for faculty and staff on instructional technology tools and best practices.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and resources for end-users.

Technology Integration:

  • Assist faculty in the adoption and effective use of the college's learning management system (Moodle) and other educational technologies.

  • Support the use of multimedia, interactive tools, and other digital resources in teaching and learning.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in instructional technology and recommend innovative solutions.

Project Management:

  • Lead and manage instructional technology projects from conception through implementation and evaluation.

  • Coordinate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of technology solutions.

User Support:

  • Provide timely and effective technical support to faculty, staff, and students.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to instructional technology.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster a collaborative environment among faculty, staff, and students to promote the effective use of instructional technology.

  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in instructional technology or a related role in a higher education setting.

  • Proficiency with learning management systems, preferably Moodle.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and best practices.

  • Experience with a wide range of educational technologies, including multimedia tools, web conferencing software, and collaboration platforms.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence (EQ).

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field.

  • Experience in a liberal arts college environment.

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and AI-driven educational tools.

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Experience in faculty development and training.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

This position has significant interactions with faculty and staff, students, and other outside constituencies.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/ENVIRONMENT:
General open office and campus environment. Position involves sitting, although frequent movement is necessary. Walking, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting required. Computer usage involving repetitive hand/wrist motion also necessary.
