Job Description As a Registered Nurse (RN) at Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, you'll play a vital role in doing what you do best - providing quality care to our patients. We are currently seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team This is a full time night shift position. $15,000 SIGN-ON BONUS FOR ELIGIBLE, EXPERIENCED RNS Position Overview Our labor and delivery staff have specialized experience in childbirth support and newborn care. The Women's Services unit is composed of 6 labor rooms, 2 ante partum rooms, 18 postpartum rooms, 3 triage beds and 8 NICU bassinets. We also have a certified lactation consultant on-staff to assist when needed. Responsibilities * Based on nursing assessment, collaborates to create, modify and re-prioritize patient plan of care as necessary * Recognizes and reports changes in the patient's clinical condition. Identifies actual and potential health problems and their implications based on observed data/signs * Recognizes implications of abnormal diagnostic tests and follows through (lab, NST, OCT, US, x-rays/scans, vital signs) * Proficient at Gestational/Age Maturity Rating Scale, Neonatal Abstinence Scoring, breast/bottle feeding, Glucose Protocol, bathing and daily care, oxygen setup, discharge teaching/planning, circumcision care/teaching and PKU * Promptly identifies and interprets subtle and early indicators of crisis situation and intervenes (e.g. recognizes patient changes when precipitous delivery is imminent and prepares for deliver) * Proficient with equipment specific to nursery, radiant warmers, incubators, Bili lights, bili blankets, Spacelabs and Dinemapp vital signs machines, scales and pulse oximeters * Demonstrates competency to manage all areas of emergency nursing involving different body systems within age specific criteria * Responds to additional unit needs during crisis and coordinates neonatal transport * Documents findings and communicates all pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members as appropriate * Provides education to patients/families/significant others, incorporating age-specific criteria and assessment of readiness to learn * Performs Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. Documents required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards * Delegates appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with job descriptions, license requirements, and standards of practice * Participates in developing other staff and affiliating students * Demonstrates willingness to Cross-train and/or assist other areas of the hospital accepting assignments within competency level, as needed * Other duties as assigned Qualifications * Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited RN program. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred * Current license as a Registered Nurse in Texas, or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact * Current American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
