- Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and divisional goals and objectives.
- · Responsible for managing, directing, and supervising the following service units: Labor & Delivery, Postpartum & Nursery.
- · Responsible for planning and monitoring staffing activities for the division, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
- · Provides for professional growth and development of staff through identification of needs, sponsoring training programs, encouraging education (formal and continuing) efforts and evaluation of same.
- · Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluations for each staff member; conducts evaluations for new staff prior to completion of probationary period.
- · Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- · Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- · Performs general nursing duties in all Women’s Services departments, as needed.
- · Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
- · Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.
- · Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- · Keeps current with principles and practices, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare.
- · Participates in other assigned duties as designated by the Administration.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate Degree in Nursing, Required
Bachelor / Master of Science in Nursing, Preferred
Required Licenses:
Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license.
Required Certifications:
· American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
· Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
· Blood Glucose Monitoring Training Program Certification, required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
