The Service Technician will be responsible for installing and repairing propane tanks and on an as-needed basis delivering propane and filling tanks for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $31
  • Average of 40-50 hours weekly
  • Overtime pay after 40 hours worked at time and a half
  • $5,000 sign-on bonus $2,500 paid after 90 days and $2,500 paid after 1 year
  • $2,500 employee referral program
  • Paid via direct deposit bi-weekly

Home Time, Route, & Schedule

  • Home Time: Home every night
  • Shift: Day shift schedule; start times vary by location; shifts will be 8 to 12 hours depending on fluctuating needs
  • Scheduling requirements year round:
    • Committing to a paid rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergencies after hours
  • Scheduling requirements during peak season
    • Hours can vary during peak season. Can work up to 60 hours a week
    • Working 6-day work weeks with 10-hour shifts and paid overtime
    • Working weekends and holidays
  • Level of Touch: Load, secure, transport, deliver, and unload propane to specified destinations

Equipment

  • Fleet consists of a variety of vehicles, including medium-and heavy-duty power units with bulk, flatbed, box and curtain trailers.
  • Automatic transmission
  • Inward and outward event triggered cameras

Responsibilities

As a local Service Technician, you will play a vital role in installing and repairing propane tanks for our customers while ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operate a propane service vehicle with lift gate and boom along provided service routes
  • Perform repairs on existing propane tanks for commercial and residential customers
  • Install new propane tanks/systems for commercial and residential customers
  • On an as-needed basis, perform Delivery Representative functions, such as delivering bulk or canister propane
  • Perform all daily functions in a safe manner by adhering to all federal and state codes and regulations in addition to all AmeriGas Safety and Operations Policies and Procedures
  • Consistent use of required Personal Protective Equipment

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid CDL A or B license
  • Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements requiredor willing to obtain
  • Requires G1 Gasfitters License
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months CDL driving experience with a clean driving record
  • Must have previous employment experience working with hand tools
  • Previous HVAC, Plumbing, Maintenance, or Mechanical experience preferred
  • Propane industry experience is a plus
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to load/unload 50-pound cylinders (up to 200/day) and pull 75-pound hoses that are 150 feet or more
  • Satisfactory completion of a DOT physical, drug test and background check
  • Hiring Radius: Drivers must live within 35 miles of Housatonic, MAwith nomore than a 45-minute commute, or be willing to relocate for this position
