About the job:

The Licensed Practical Nurse shall perform in accordance with state and local laws and within the guidelines of his/her professional organization. All functions shall be performed in accordance with the established policies and practices of the particular institution in which the LPN is performing his/her duties. The LPN is qualified by education, training, and experience and demonstrated abilities to give nursing care under the direction of a RN and to have the knowledge of the principles of psychological, biological and social sciences.

Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of practice.
Ability to understand residents’ charts, doctor’s orders, residents’ plan of care, medication orders.
Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies
Maintain a current CPR Certification
Ability to prioritize duties
Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques

Essentials:

Role models positive communication skills with NA/RS, TMA’s (if applicable), interdisciplinary team, customers, residents and families.
Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs.
Ensure that unit personnel and volunteers on your shift are carrying out their assignments
Treats and ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignity.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments per MD/Providers orders
Make rounds to residents to observe their physical and psychosocial status.
Listen to shift report and keep open lines of communication with supervisor, co-workers and on-coming shift.
Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, administration of medications and treatments.
