MOHS Histotechnician

This is a part time position Monday, Tuesday & Thursday from 7:45 am to 1 pm
Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate (based on experience) paid bi-weekly + part-time benefits package including PTO, 401K match, etc..
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of technical aspects in the areas of histology, laboratory techniques and quality control.
Demonstrates ability to embed, cut, stain, and mount tissue specimens following established policies and procedures and laboratory standards.
Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with superiors, peers, physicians and patients.
Strong organizational and computer skills.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
An earned associate degree in a chemical or biological science or medical laboratory technology, obtained from an accredited institution.
60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
Experience:
Minimum or 1 year working experience with Mohs
Certifications & Licenses:
Histotechnologist (HTL, ASCP) or Histotechnician (HT, ASCP) certification
Technology Applications: Proficient in Microsoft Applications

The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds. Repetitive motion of upper body required for extended use of computer. Required specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Laboratory work environment with exposure to various chemicals and equipment.
Prolonged sitting, frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Safety equipment and personal protective equipment provided and required. Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity enough to operate office and laboratory equipment.
Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or medical clinic environment.
Minimum travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
