*Overview:*

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients, operating imaging equipment, and performing diagnostic imaging procedures under the supervision of a physician. They play a crucial role in patient care by ensuring accurate imaging and safety while handling radioactive materials.

*Responsibilities: *

· Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns

· Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with safety protocols

· Operate imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanners, and SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) scanners to capture images of patients’ organs and tissues

· Assist physicians in analyzing the images and data obtained from the scans to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning

· Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure accurate and safe operation

· Follow strict radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary exposure

· Maintain accurate records of procedures, patient information, and radiopharmaceutical usage in compliance with regulatory requirements

· Work closely with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care

· Maintains HIPAA, patient, employee, and office confidentiality at all times

· Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team including Providers, technicians, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care delivery

· Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing their concerns, providing instructions, and offering support as needed

· Participate in team meetings, trainings, and continuing professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge of cardiology practices and procedures

· All other duties as assigned

*Position Requirements:*

· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field

· Certification from a recognized body such as the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine

· Current BLS certification

· Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $31.00 - $33.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 25 per week

Education:
* Associate (Preferred)
