Job Summary
Responsible for the preparation and filing of monthly sales tax returns and other sales tax processes. Assists Tax Department in processing tax returns and special projects.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and file all sales tax returns
Ensure compliance with sales tax requirements for all properties (sales tax registration applications, licenses or certificates, tax rates, and communicating with tax authorities to obtain information)
Analyze the sales tax process and improve efficiencies
Answer sales tax related questions and research discrepancies or issues
Assist with sales tax audits (preparing audit data, pulling supporting information, and responding to auditor requests)
Provide clerical support for the Tax Department
Process tax forms and notices
Work closely with Accounts Payable department to ensure tax payments are made, including check requests and online payments
Job Specifications
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of computer related skills and accounting systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel and Adobe Acrobat
Working knowledge of accounting software/systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
Highly motivated with confidence to independently address issues
Detail-oriented and organized
Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience preferred
