Key Job Elements

• Inspects/evaluates environment, equipment and
processes to ensure compliance with federal /
state / local safety / environment regulations;
• Conducts New Hire Orientation; delivers safety
and health training programs and maintains and
distributes PPE to employees when applicable;
engages employees to make sure they are
working safely; stops/corrects any unsafe
behavior or conditions found;
• Enters data into Safety systems; conducts audits
to identify unsafe conditions, non-compliance
and hazardous conditions; tracks, logs and
follows up on safety observations;
• Conducts incident accident reporting and
investigations and/or assists with the
development of root cause corrections in those
facilities with an EHS Manager;
• Handles regulatory inspections/visits, such as
KYOSHA and/or HYDEP; completes reports for
submission to EPA, OSHA or other regulatory
agencies as required;
• Performs monitoring and testing for permit
requirements;
• Assists in the sampling of different media,
collecting water level data, storm water sampling
during precipitation events; collects, labels,
packages and ships samples to off-site lab;
• Handles facility alarm and sprinkler systems and
other emergency response systems as
applicable;
• Assists with preparation of monthly, quarterly
and annual reporting requirements for assigned
programs;
• Administers first aid for minor injuries as needed
and refers more serious injuries for medical care
and informs company of any injuries that occur
at the facility; and
• Collaborates with Facility Management as
needed and completes other job-related duties
as assigned by EHS Manager, Plant Manager, HR
Manager and Regional EHS Manager, as
applicable.

Education / Training

• BS or technical degree in Environmental or
Occupational Health and Safety or related field; and
• 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing
environment.
• May substitute some educational requirements with
5+ years experience in EHS.

Qualifications and Experience

• Solid understanding of environmental practices
and Federal/State safety rules and regulations
and regulatory requirements;
• Possess or able to obtain certification in General
Industry 30-hour class;
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification;
• Valid driver’s license;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively at all
levels, including company management, staff,
contractors, vendors, and site personnel;
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and
written) with a wide variety of audiences;
• Experience with Office Suite (MS Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Outlook);
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in workload
and priority as circumstances dictate;
• Must be able to meet requirements of pre-
employment, post-offer drug test and fitness for
duty medical review and exam;
• Must be able to pass a background check which
reviews any and all felonies and misdemeanors
in the past 7 years;
• Experience with SAFE START or similar safety
program;
• Strength – Position typically involves work in a
standard office environment. Occasional
standing and walking. Heavy lifting is rare, but
may be required;
• Motion – Position regularly requires standard
repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination
associated with office communications. May
require bending, lifting, standing, walking, etc. in
cases where Safety investigations require them;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal
communications, including both talking and
hearing;
• Work Environment – Position is Safety Sensitive
and will require the use of Personal Protective
Equipment. Position may involve work in a non-
temperature controlled facility. Position will
require visits to industrial environment, including
potential for noise (85+ decibels), exposure to
hazardous materials, heavy equipment, high
levels of dust, and other hazardous working
conditions. May be required to remain for long
periods of time in hazardous work
environments to investigate and mitigate
accidents/incidents;
• Emotional Demands – Requires significant
interpersonal skills while bearing a high standard
for compliance. Ability to adapt to frequent
changes in workload and priority as
circumstances dictate; and
• Safety – Position is Safety Sensitive and will
require the use of Personal Protective
Equipment;
• May be required to work various times to cover
training, calls pertaining to incidents, and
support on differing shifts.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with SAFE START or similar programs
• Some knowledge of first-aid and medical and
ability to assist Medical Dept. with employees;
• Incident investigation techniques - Safe Start or
similar;
• Some knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean.
