JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Plant Operations Supervisor to oversee the maintenance personnel and ensure the smooth and safe operation of our power plant in Mankato, MN. This role involves planning and coordinating maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Plant Operations Supervisor will also be responsible for managing contractors and maintaining preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the O&M Manager in overseeing critical programs and processes, such as performance management, outage management, and project management.
Coordinate and supervise maintenance functions to ensure efficient and reliable plant operation.
Ensure plant operating performance by scheduling maintenance activities and coordinating with plant personnel and outside service providers.
Enforce safety procedures and maintain working relationships with environmental, health, and safety representatives.
Develop and implement maintenance procedures and plans to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintain the computerized maintenance management program and assist in employee selection and performance reviews.
Coordinate and conduct mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance activities.
Schedule materials, equipment, and personnel for plant activities.
Manage site spare parts in coordination with maintenance and warehouse personnel.
Ensure compliance with labor laws, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Handle administrative activities related to the department's management.
Develop contracts and oversee maintenance service agreements and support contractors.
Provide management direction in the absence of the O&M Manager.
Support inventory management and procurement activities.
Implement profit improvement projects.
Provide technical support to corporate business development and other Onward Energy plants as required.
Perform other assigned duties.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the power generation field or equivalent work/military experience may substitute for a degree.
Previous experience in a supervisory/management role is preferred.
Familiarity with Maximo is highly desirable.
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, instrumentation, and controls is preferred.
Exhibit a high standard of conduct and integrity in all interactions related to the company.
Ability to lead, coach, and foster positive employee relations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to persuade and promote business initiatives.
Strong planning, organizing, and directing abilities within operations and maintenance functions.
Familiarity with competitive business practices and the ability to apply them in decision making.
Skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Adaptability to organizational changes and new requirements.
Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
Advanced computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other programs.
Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal.
Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Valid US driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
