Job Title: Central Processing Tech

Job Location: Billings, MT

Job Type: Contract - 13 weeks

Job Duties: 
* Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays and equipment.
* Assembles, distributes and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts and supplies to fill the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units,
* Operates and monitors sterilization equipment.
* Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination.
* Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor.
* Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment.
* Properly checks power equipment.
* Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays.
* Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes.
* Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.
* Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
* Provides on the job training on the job training (OJT) to newly hired associates in the department.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Must have Certified Sterile Processing Technician.
* Previous experience in hospital or clinic operating room.
* Experience and understanding in the use of computers, as well as the ability to learn software relevant to Sterile Processing.
* Must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
