Harris Regional Hospital, located in Sylva, NC is growing the Neonatology service line with the addition of a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP). Experienced candidates are preferred, but strong new graduates will be considered and reviewed as well.
  • Harris Regional Hospital is the only facility west of Haywood County providing labor and delivery services
  • The only hospital in the region with a full-service pediatric group
  • Round on newborns in the hospital alongside an experienced neonatologist
  • Average daily census is up to 4 newborns in the Level II Nursery and approximately 4 in the Labor & Delivery/Mother-Baby Unit
  • The position is inpatient-only days, Monday through Friday, shared call
  • Common Procedures: UAC/UVC, LP, Intubation, Arterial line, Arterial blood gas, Chest tube, Urinary cath, Circumcision

Harris Regional Hospital is an 86-bed acute care hospital with multiple neonatal and pediatric support services including childbirth education classes and breastfeeding support with International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC). Pediatric physical and speech therapists perform feeding assessments, provide positioning and sensory input support, and are trained in treating ankyloglossia, cleft palate, and other feeding-inhibiting conditions. The Level II Nursery/NICU team includes respiratory therapists who have achieved the Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) certification. The Level II Nursery is located inside the New Generations Family Birthing Center which underwent a $6 million renovation in 2018 and is located on the third floor of the hospital.

Hospital: Harris Regional Hospital is an 86-bed acute care facility located in Sylva, NC. With a long-standing reputation for excellent care, this fully accredited hospital has been providing care to western North Carolina residents since 1929. Harris offers five major service lines, including orthopedics, cardiology, general surgery, women s care, and emergency medicine, as well as many other areas of subspecialty care.
Community: Sylva, NC is less than one hour west of Asheville and adjacent to the university town of Cullowhee, NC, home of Western Carolina University. Sylva and the surrounding area feature hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and whitewater rafting and kayaking. Access to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and the cultural legacy of Cherokee, NC. Jackson County is known as the official North Carolina Trout Capital with clear mountain streams running throughout the county. Mountain golf and snow skiing are also within a few minutes drive. 50min to Asheville
