The Nurse Practitioner assists with the provision of medical services under the supervision of the Medical Director. The Nurse Practitioner, acting within the scope of their license may be directed by the Medical Director to provide some oversight, or to collaborate with the Nurse Manager.

*JOB SUMMARY*:

The Nurse Practitioner is an individual holding an active, unrestricted WV nurse practitioner license. This person will provide direct patient care services in the clinic. The scope of services is centered on women’s reproductive health and limited to consultation with appropriate treatment, physical exam, and laboratory and venipuncture testing. Services do not include invasive procedures or continuity care/long-term prescribing. Primary care needs may be identified and referrals made. Services are intended to assist patients in preparation for them obtaining continuity care elsewhere. There are currently no after-hours or on-call requirements for patient care but expansion could change this requirement.

A DEA license is not required, but prescriptive authority is required for prescribing of non-scheduled medications. Active hospital medical staff membership is not required for licensure or for this job. The position includes independent practitioner activities subject to the authority of the Medical Director.

The Nurse Practitioner ensures that care is conducted in accordance with established standards of care and organizational policies and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner works with the Medical Director and Nurse Manager to develop and write clinical policies and procedures, to monitor compliance and to conduct quality improvement programs.

The Nurse Practitioner evaluates patients’ physical, emotional and behavioral needs as indicated, taking into account cultural and spiritual preferences. The practitioner will provide treatment and/or intervention as indicated and consistent within their scope of clinical practice and Women’s Care Center policies and procedures.

The Nurse Practitioner practice is grounded in nursing process and incorporates the use of independent judgment. Practice includes collaborative interaction with other health care professionals in the assessment and management of wellness and health conditions.

*Education and Licensure*:

· Preferred minimum 2 years’ experience as an Nurse Practitioner– Women’s Health preferred

· A graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program

· Active, unrestricted WV State Nurse Practitioner License

· Current and active National Provider Identifier

· Current provider BLS certification (may be accomplished after hire)

*Professional experience*:

· Clinic experience in women’s health

· Able to obtain a thorough women’s health history and to recognize the need for further evaluation or referral

· Experience in development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of medical policies and procedures

· Experience in seeking resources for patient care and education

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
