Cohen Childrens Medical Centeropened in 1983 as the New York metropolitan areas only hospital designed exclusively for children. Today, it is the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region, with over 750,000 visits annually and serving 1.8 million children in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. It is the tertiary pediatric medical center of the Northwell Health System and the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island. An active Pediatric Kidney Transplant program is in place, and there is a deep commitment at every level of the Northwell Leadership to the Heart Transplant programmatic build with live transplantation planning underway. Cohen Childrens Medical Center is among the top-rated childrens hospitals in New York State and has received the highest ranking in New York for pediatric nephrology, urology, pulmonology and lung surgery, and are nationally ranked for superior care in a total of eight specialties, including Diabetes and Endocrinology, according to US News & World Reports 2023-2024 Best Childrens Hospitals. As the largest provider of pediatric health services in the state, Cohen Childrens has been ranked among the nations top childrens hospitals by US News for 16 consecutive years. We are the main site for pediatric rotations at the Zucker School of Medicine and have 100 pediatric residents and 4 fellows.
