Aptive Resources is seeking a skilled Interventional Procedure Registered Nurse. As an Interventional Procedure Registered Nurse (RN), you will specialize in providing nursing care and support to patients undergoing various interventional procedures, typically within radiology, cardiology, or other specialized departments. Your role will involve assisting healthcare providers during procedures, monitoring patient vital signs, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process. You will also be responsible for patient education, preparation, and post-procedure care, as well as collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to optimize procedural outcomes.

Shifts: Nurses assigned can expect to work eight (8) hours shifts Monday-Friday; 0730 to 1600.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pre-Procedural Preparation: Assess patients' medical histories, current health status, and procedural requirements. Educate patients and their families about the procedure, potential risks, and expected outcomes. Prepare procedural sites and administer medications as prescribed, ensuring patient readiness for the intervention.
  • Intra-Procedural Assistance: Assist physicians and interventionalists during procedures by providing sterile instruments, monitoring patient vital signs, and anticipating procedural needs. Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of complications.
  • Patient Monitoring and Support: Monitor patients' physiological responses during procedures, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation levels. Recognize and promptly report any deviations from baseline to healthcare providers. Administer medications and interventions as directed to manage pain, anxiety, or emergent situations.
  • Post-Procedural Care: Monitor patients post-procedure for complications, such as bleeding, allergic reactions, or adverse effects from anesthesia or contrast agents. Provide immediate post-anesthesia care, assess recovery progress, and ensure patient comfort and safety. Educate patients and caregivers on post-procedure instructions and potential signs of complications.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of pre-procedure assessments, intra-procedural care, post-procedure outcomes, and medications administered. Enter data into electronic health records (EHR) systems according to regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Collaborative Care: Collaborate with radiologists, cardiologists, surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care throughout the procedural experience. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning, quality improvement initiatives, and procedural protocol development.
  • Quality Improvement and Safety: Adhere to procedural safety guidelines, including radiation safety protocols, contrast administration protocols, and procedural checklists. Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes, minimize procedural complications, and optimize workflow efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
  • Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association. Current Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years prior experience in a procedural area such as radiology, GI Lab, etc
  • Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collaborative patient care.
  • Ability to complete and successfully pass any required government background check
