*TITLE*: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
*RESPONSIBLE TO*: Charge Nurse, MDS Coordinator, and the Director of Nursing
*STATUS:* Part Time or Full Time
*SUMMARY*
Responsible for providing and assisting with activities of daily living.
*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
· Assure resident safety.
· Perform duties in accordance with policies and procedures initiated by the facility
· Work under the direction of the Charge Nurse
· Follow safety precautions at all times by utilizing equipment and assistive devices
· Provide care for the residents by meeting their needs
· Feed residents as required with proper utensils. Distribute meal trays.
· Perform vital signs as directed by the Charge Nurse
· Assist residents with ADL’s including but not limited to: eating, dressing, going to the bathroom, including using bedpan or urinal, bathing, personal and oral hygiene.
· Assist residents in and out of bed and transferring to and from chair/wheelchair.
· Assist residents with ambulation as assigned and per plan of care
· Answer call lights and give assistance as soon as possible
· Change bed linens when necessary and maintain a clean and safe environment
· Assist the Charge Nurse with admissions and dismissals
· Inform the Charge Nurse of any abnormalities such as red areas, wounds, appetite change, change in elimination, complaints of illness or pain
· Maintain cleanliness and disinfect areas as needed.
· Collect laundry and deliver to the Laundry Department
· Collect and dispose of trash at the end of the shift
· Participate in committees as assigned by the Director of Nursing or MDS Coordinator
· Utilize infection control techniques, including but not limited to handwashing, sanitizers, masks, or other methods to reduce spread of infection
· Perform all other duties assigned and directed by the Charge Nurse or Director of Nursing
· Abide by employee immunization/vaccination policies
*QUALIFICATIONS*
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Must be a certified nursing assistant in the state of Nebraska and be found on the registry. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE*
Must have completed a nursing assistant training course.
*CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION*
CPR preferred.
