What you will do in this role:
- Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic PACU environment
- Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual PACU patients
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process
- Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care
- Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver
- Participate in surgical services specific initiatives and process improvement
- Promote a supportive PACU environment · Provide supervision of new employees, patient care techs, student nurses and/or nurse externs
- Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned
- Support the mission, vision and values of the organization
- Provides immediate post-surgical care of patients who have had general anesthesia epidural/spinal anesthesia and IV sedation
- Monitors all patients for airway and pain management
What qualifications you will need:
- Current RN license in State of Texas or compact license
- BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS provider within 12 months
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- Two years of acute care nursing experience preferred, ED or ICU experience required
- Minimum of two years critical care experience preferred
- Please note this position has on call requirements
