Department Information
The Campus Recreation Complex (CRC) is a 300,659 sq. ft. facility located on Ferst Drive, on the West side of campus. The complex is a unique expansion of the existing swimming and diving venue built for the 1996 Olympic Games. Campus Recreation provides a premier recreation fitness center, aquatic center, recreation fields, and leadership challenge course for the Georgia Tech community. We offer programming that includes Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Fitness Instruction and Classes, and Outdoor Recreation.

Job Summary The Pool Operator will be responsible for maintaining the pristine condition and operation of the pool(s) within the aquatic facilities. Keeping the aquatic center's pool(s) at a competitive level is of utmost importance. This role will use high-level expertise in water chemistry, pool maintenance, and operational
standards to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all users. This position will supervise: N/A

Responsibilities Job Duty 1 -
Maintain water quality to meet and exceed health and safety standards. Perform required chemical checks and balance adjustments to ensure optimal conditions.

Job Duty 2 -
Operate and oversee the aquatic facility's pool's filtration systems, pumps, and other mechanical systems.

Job Duty 3 -
Conduct regular inspections of the pool area, equipment, and safety devices to ensure compliance with all regulations and standards.

Job Duty 4 -
Implement cleaning schedules for the pool, deck, and related facilities to maintain a hygienic environment.

Job Duty 5 -
Manage inventory of pool chemicals and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels for uninterrupted operation.

Job Duty 6 -
Collaborate with the management to develop and refine facility procedures and standards.

Job Duty 7 -
Train staff on pool maintenance and safety protocols.

Job Duty 8 -
Prepare reports on pool usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents.

Job Duty 9 -
Make repairs as necessary to pool related equipment including pool deck. Prepare reports on pool usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma

Other Required Qualifications
Required Certifications, Licenses or Permits:
o Certified Pool Operator
o Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR - First Aid (FA) - Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
(within 60 days of employment)

Required Experience
Five to six years of job-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIES
o This job requires occasional travel up to 10% or more of the time
o The ability to lift heavy objects weighing 25 pounds or more and exposure to pool chemicals

SKILLS
o Proven experience in pool maintenance and operations.
o Solid understanding of pool equipment (pumps, filter etc.)
o Strong understanding of water chemistry and pool sanitization
o Experience with Competitive Olympic sized swimming and dive pools a must
o Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard hours for special events and
emergencies. The role involves mostly indoor work and exposure to chemicals. The candidate
must be comfortable working in this environment and capable of performing physical tasks
associated with pool maintenance
