Duties
This position is located within a hospital or healthcare facility for the Billings Area Indian Health Service. The incumbent reports to the Supervisory Dental Officer or designee.
Make clinical and radiographic examinations of the oral and soft tissues and a diagnosis of pathological or irregular conditions.Administer local anesthesia, and/or nitrous oxide analgesia.Perform routine and moderately complicated tooth extractions, including surgical procedures.Perform examinations, make diagnoses and prescribe treatment plans for patients.Recognize and refer patients for specialty treatment as required.Examine, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and malformation of teeth and gums.Plan and carry-out dental health programs for oral disease prevention and patient education.Requirements Conditions of Employment

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

In addition to the above Basic Requirements for the GS-11 (or equivalent) level, applicants must complete a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science; or equivalent experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, and/or training.Examples of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade levelEvaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.Medical Requirements: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.Time In Grade
