A postdoctoral position is available for highly motivated candidates to join a multi-disciplinary group of chemical engineers, physicists, chemists, and geochemists at the Florida State University (FSU) and the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL)

Responsibilities

The candidate selected is expected to conduct research on the modeling of a range of particulate separation strategies, including but not limited to fluidized bed reactors for, recovery of critical materials from industrial waste and have a strong background in rheology, fluid dynamics, modeling, and simulations with COMSOL or other CFD platforms.

Qualifications

Experience and Skills Sought:

• PhD in Engineering and/or Physics or relevant discipline in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields

• Experience in computational fluid dynamics, magnet design and actuation, experimental micro/macro fluidics, colloidal science, and separation processes.

• Experience with instrument design and/or automation experience.

• Team player with leadership, communication, and presentation skills.

• A track record of quality publications with excellent writing skills is essential.

Helpful

The project will involve modeling and simulations of particulates in complex fluids. The candidate selected is expected to conduct research on the modeling of a range of particulate separation strategies, including but not limited to fluidized bed reactors for, recovery of critical materials from industrial waste. The initial appointment will be for one year, with renewal for up to two additional years conditional upon performance and availability of funding.
