Job Summary and QualificationsThis Job Description for the Staff RN in the Emergency Department provides criteria for the evaluation of the Registered Nurse in the Staff RN position. The Staff RN assigned to the Emergency Department cares for patients including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
What you will do in this role:
- Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patient
- Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Emergency Department and managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment.
- Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
- Routinely provides triage assessment for patients presenting for treatment.
- Routinely performs venipunctures for obtaining specimens for lab tests.
- Routinely provides intervention in emergency, life-threatening situations.
- Assumes the responsibility of charging the department, as needed
- EKG Certification or successful challenge of EKG Exam
- CEN certification encouraged
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Nurse
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Cour, or PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
