Job Overview
As a Trailer Mechanic at Kreilkamp Trucking, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various components of trailers and heavy-duty vehicles used for hauling large goods. You will use specialized tools and your technical expertise to ensure our equipment is safe, reliable, and in optimal condition.
SHIFT: 3rd - 10PM to 6:30AM
Key Responsibilities
Use specialized tools such as welding torches, jacks, hoists, wrenches, and more to perform repairs and maintenance on trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles.
Diagnose and repair air brakes, tires, suspension, electrical systems, lights, mobile AC refrigeration, and other components.
Communicate timelines for repair completion to ensure prompt and efficient service.
Order parts as needed in a cost-effective manner.
Collaborate with the Shop Coordinator to ensure efficient completion of repairs and maintenance.
Perform preventive maintenance and routine technical repairs.
Ensure the work area is clean and organized.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment during all repair and maintenance tasks.
Complete repair orders and enter data accurately into the computer system.
Qualifications and Experience
HSED/GED or equivalent required.
Certification from a one- or two-year program in mechanics is advantageous.
Valid driver's license required; CDL A or B is preferred.
Must have own tools. There is a $400 yearly tool allowance.
Computer and diagnostic skills are required.
Effective written and oral communication skills are essential.
Basic mathematical skills with the ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations.
Ability to read and understand operating procedures and technical information.
Able to handle the pressure of working with a high-volume workload.
