Position Summary

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the coordination of freight movement, quotations and basic documentation as required to move cargo domestically and across international borders. This position also resolves day to day transportation issues as they may arise. You are basically the "Customer Service" to both STERIS internal and external Customers as it relates to transportation worldwide.

Duties
Providing transportation quotations (domestic and international). This includes air, ocean and truck, regardless of urgency (e.g. expedites) and size and weight of shipment(s).
Create International documentation for shipments through Integration Point and process International shipments using ShipConsole.
Providing quotation for storage of goods through STERIS' preferred carriers (short and long term storage).
Obtain carrier Proof of Delivery documentation for quarter end activity and as requested daily.
Tracking & Tracing of international & domestic shipments.
Obtain quotations from Freight Carriers when required.
Book shipments with the appropriate carrier and prepare necessary paperwork as it relates to returns (including trade in's, shipments to charitable organizations and call tag) and vendor drop shipments and update Oracle with the correct shipment information.
Troubleshooting related to transportation and delivery of goods to or from STERIS or STERIS supplier/vendor facility.
Arrange pickups and destruction of hazardous materials upon request.
Book truck loads and expedites upon request based on the parameters set in the STERIS Routing Guide.
Recordkeeping where required.
Assist the Logistics Management in the evaluation of STERIS Domestic & International Transportation suppliers.
Work at the direction of the Logistics Supervisor in the coordination of shipments to Customers.
Complete special projects as it relates to the above duties or assigned by STERIS.

Required Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a domestic and International Transportation function.

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Microsoft Teams as well as have a typing skill set of at least 40 WPM.

Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers and vendors.

Demonstrated excellent decision making, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Preferred Experience
Previous experience in a Customer Service function is preferred.
Knowledge/certification in hazardous material international/domestic transportation is preferred.
Experience classifying items with the proper NMFC number and freight class is preferred.
Work Schedule
This is a hybrid schedule opportunity based in Mentor, OH.
The schedule is: 3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week remote.
