By facilitating and promoting health and safety, school-based nurses support the growth and development of children and youth in general education as well as students with special needs. A few of the other things they often do throughout the day-to-day include leading health-related interventions as well as:

  • Identifying intervention outcomes
  • Following state and local regulations
  • Performing health screenings and assessments
  • Working one-on-one with students to carry out their care plan
  • Developing plans, including Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs)

While working as an independent contractor nurse alongside PTS, you may also participate on teams, like the Committee on Special Education, a student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) team, and/or a Section 504 Team.
