SummaryThe Life Safety Inspector investigates code issues, performs inspections, and ensures code compliance involving life safety equipment and systems. This position investigates life safety code compliance issues and performs follow-up communications, actions, and documentation. The Life Safety Inspector accompanies local and state fire inspectors during campus inspections. This position inspects life safety equipment in university buildings. This position periodically tests fire alarms, fire detection systems, fire extinguishers, emergency lights and exit lights. The Life Safety Inspector keeps maintenance and inspection records on all emergency equipment. This position reports deficiencies after each inspection.
Required Qualifications•High School Diploma or Equivalent•3 years of relevant fire safety inspection of fire alarms, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, basic knowledge of fixed Halon & carbon dioxide systems, fire hose stations, fire pumps, ME pumps controls, combustible gas detection, and spill control.
Preferred Qualifications•Inspectors must possess a basic understanding of basic electricity and electronics.•2 years of life safety experience in high education or healthcare.•Technical knowledge & training in fire safety, life safety inspection or testing
