The Opportunity

The position of Records Custodian is within our Toxicology Laboratory located in Richmond, VA. Primary duties include performing daily record center activities such as tracking record storage, coordinating record transport between off-site storage, and processing record requests. This position also works with laboratory staff and external clients such as attorneys and representatives of the courts to coordinate testimony and provide litigation packets. Employee also provides assistance prior to and during several regulatory audits through the year, retrieving data and other records upon request.

What You’ll Work On

  • Properly documenting records storage per company policy and regulatory requirements

  • Coordinate sending out of records to external storage site and coordinating records retrieval from external storage site

  • Assist in pre-audit preparation activities and assist with records requests during audits

  • Understand basic laboratory operations to prepare comprehensive litigation packets that may be used in court proceedings

  • Communicate professionally with external agencies for subpoena requests and coordinating court testimony

  • Maintaining donor and client confidentiality of records

  • Proactively and cooperatively communicate with peers and management to ensure awareness of progress and issues; recommend solutions when issues arise

  • Maintain and meet the highest standards in quality and regulatory compliance

  • Follow, understand and comply with SOPs and policies

  • Perform any other duties as designated by the Management team or dictated by the needs of the laboratory

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Records maintenance experience preferred

  • Ability to manage urgent requests

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs

  • Job requires frequent lifting and moving of boxes to access records

The base pay for this position is $22.15 – $44.25 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
