Purpose and Impact:

The Payroll Clerk will work with the payroll department in personnel payroll activities and various confidential payroll policies and practices. This role requires someone who can work with minimal supervision, multi-task, maintain confidentiality and communicate and work effectively with their fellow peers.  

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide payroll inquiry resolution assistance to internal company personnel with tact and diplomacy ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained. 
  • Process written requests for verification of income/employment, wage garnishments, and tax levies. 
  • Process payroll related invoices to include entry into the procurement software. 
  • Review timecard data for errors and inconsistencies. 
  • Review timecards for proper supervisor approval. 
  • Administrator for Agency’s Company Mileage software. 
  • Reconcile payroll related balance sheet accounts. 
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential. 

Other Functions: 

  • Performs other duties as required. 
  • Performs other general office duties such as scanning, copying, filing, etc. 
  • Assist with requests from internal and external auditors. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Able to sit for long periods of time. 

Education: 

  • High School diploma required. Associate Degree 

Experience: 

  • 1 + years of payroll experience.  
  • Strong Customer Service skills. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel required.  
  • Recent experience with UKG a plus. 

Skills: 

  • Proficient computer skill with Microsoft Office. 
  • Ability to function effectively with minimum  
  • Good communications skills both written and verbal. 
  • High degree of professionalism. 
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. 
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and assignments under a fast paced 
  • Excellent attention to detail with above average analytical and organizational skills. 

Other: 

  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs. 

Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Reports to the Payroll Manager. 
  • Team player with co-workers and program staff. 
  • Quality of service delivery to central and regional offices. 
  • Adherence to Agency policies, procedures and management practices.
