Our client in the transportation industry is seeking a Yard Spotter I to join their team. As a Yard Spotter I, you will be part of the Outbound Warehouse team supporting the movement of trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading. The ideal candidate will have experience in yard spotting or trailer moving, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with team members.

Job Title: Yard Spotter I

Location: Lincoln, NE

Time: 3am to 1pm, Monday-Friday

Pay Range: Up to 20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Move trailers in and out of dock doors for loading and unloading.
  • Utilize an Ottawa truck to transport trailers within the yard.
  • Collaborate with loaders and warehouse supervisors to ensure timely movement of trucks and trailers according to door assignments.
  • Check each unit to ensure it is sealed and that refrigeration units are operating correctly.
  • Confirm that trailers are completely loaded and secured before moving from the dock area.
  • Work with transportation management to use the appropriate equipment for designated routes.
  • Coordinate with fleet shop management to ensure any repairs are completed before equipment use.
  • Maintain a clean and organized truck parking yard, free of debris and trash.
  • Arrange trucks and trailers in an efficient manner within the yard.

Qualifications:

  • Previous yard spotting or trailer moving experience is required.
  • No CDL license is necessary.
  • Certification in pallet jack and forklift from Sysco preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English; basic arithmetic skills are essential.
  • Ability to recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret bar graphs.
  • Strong common sense and the ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Capable of addressing problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Warehouse or transportation background.
  • Experience with truck backing.

Education:

  • High school diploma is not required.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the Outbound Warehouse Supervisor.

  • Full-time position with onboarding package provided.
