BOILER OPERATOR
This role offers a challenging, diverse and exciting opportunity to become part of our Boiler team. The Boiler Operator will be trained and evaluated on all responsibilities during the trial period and must pass the equivalent of a state boiler operator’s examination.
What you will do:
- Demonstrate the ability to operate boiler in a safe manner
- Demonstrate initiative and innovation by developing new ideas and initiating action and showing willingness to deviate from traditional approaches
- Will be provided with training and expectations on the items prior to performing the expected task
- Must demonstrate ability to fire boiler in a safe manner
- Must become knowledgeable of boiler controls and purpose of each
- Learn and demonstrate emergency operating and shutdown procedures
- Must become knowledgeable of boiler terminology
- Must become proficient in drying lumber
- Properly run boiler chemical tests
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to perform preventative duties
- Demonstrate ability to perform hot work/cutting procedures
- Must document maintenance problems and communicate with maintenance team members daily
- Perform the following key phases of Basic Care: inspection of equipment; servicing and minor adjustments to the equipment (when necessary); cleaning of the equipment; documentation and reporting of results
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/lead
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Detailed and accuracy oriented
- Consistent, predictable attendance
- Understand basic ASME Code for steam boilers
- Working knowledge of batch and continuous dry kilns on drying lumber
- Recognize and support our team culture, communicating effectively with all team members
- Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screen test and physical

- Ability to anticipate problems and apply problem solving skills
- Must be willing to perform all job assignments in an effective and timely manner with minimal supervision
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends; ability to work overtime and willing to be on-call 24/7
