POSITION TITLE Senior Actuary, Strategic ExplorationPOSITION LOCATIONRichmond, VARemote US (Eastern or Central Time)YOUR ROLEAs a key member on Genworth’s Long Term Care (LTC) Strategic Solutions Team, your expertise will be essential to identifying, researching, and recommending new, innovative Benefit Solutions that maximize the value of our in-force LTC blocks of business. This is a high-exposure, strategy-based team tasked with researching multiple risk mitigation initiatives and other business strategy initiatives to improve the overall profitability of Genworth’s inforce blocks of businesses. This involves developing actuarial models, performing in depth analysis, and ultimately crafting recommendations to senior management. This role will require collaboration with other actuarial teams, governance, finance, reinsurance, risk, IT, leadership, and others to pull a holistic strategy recommendation together and share with senior leadership. What you will be doingDevelop innovative strategies to drive policyholder behaviorDevelop tools and processes to aid in further understanding the impacts of policyholder behavior and identify opportunities for future Benefit Solution strategiesDraw insights from analysis and make recommendations to senior management regarding implications of findings and proposed actionsManage and develop a junior, ASA level actuaryCollaborate with other functional areas on a variety of in-force management initiatives and researchResearch, develop, maintain and enhance tools to research ad hoc requests for analysis and actuarial assistance on LTC issuesWhat you bringBA/BS Degree in Mathematics/Statistics/Science, Actuarial Science, Business/Finance, Engineering or related major involving significant technical/analytical courseworkFSA certification or ASA certification with relevant experience7+ years actuarial experienceAbility to operate independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesSelf-driven, highly-motivated and shows ownership in tasksAbility to think broadly and lead/influence without direct authorityDemonstrates ability to perform thorough research, understand inputs, sources of data, and downstream impacts both within and outside of areas of direct controlStrong communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to interact professionally and effectively in a team environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsBasic programming skills and experience in Microsoft Excel, VBA, Word and PowerPointAbility to develop thorough, high quality documentationNice to havePrior LTC insurance experienceExperience in actuarial modelingStrong proficiency in a programming language such as Python, SAS, RExperience with data visualization software such as Spotfire or PowerBI Employee Benefits & Well-BeingGenworth employees make a difference in people’s lives every day. In addition to your base salary, you will also be eligible to participate in an incentive plan. The incentive plan is based on performance and the target earning opportunity is 25% of your base compensation. The final determination on base pay for this position will be based on multiple factors at the time of this job posting including but not limited to geographic location, experience, and qualifications to ensure pay equity within the organization.
