Job Summary and Qualifications

Responsible for the safe and timely transport of patients, equipment, and all other related functions to meet facility needs. Responsibilities include: excellent customer service, effective communication skills, follows applicable policies/procedures, attitude of ownership, ability to effectively coordinate with other hospital staff, physicians and departments.

What you will do in this role:

  • Cleans, maintains and operates transport equipment and operates elevators to move or escort patients/visitors to and from various hospital areas, as directed, following established operating policies and procedures.
  • Signs into iMobile immediately upon arriving on shift; utilizes and responds to staff in timely manner.
  • Receives formal instruction/direction upon pick-up and provides formal hand-off report at the destination, when not required to stay with the patient.
  • Communicates effectively and collaboratively with patients and staff.
  • Alerts nursing staff of patient arrival to room for all transfers or new admissions.
  • Always utilizes two patient identifiers prior to transport.
  • Follows guidelines concern communicable disease and use of Universal Precautions.
  • Reports any changes in patient status/condition during transport.
  • Removes and reports defective equipment to supervisor.
  • Repositions room to safe and tidy condition by removing clutter from patient care areas. 

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School Graduate/Equivalent 
  • Ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions. 
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • High School Graduate / GED

Situated in Portsmouth, NH, Portsmouth Regional Hospital is a premier 234-bed acute care facility that offers exceptional healthcare services to the Seacoast region of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. This hospital is the sole ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, making it an essential resource for the community. It boasts the region's only comprehensive heart and vascular program, along with 24/7 comprehensive neurosurgical and stroke clot retrieval programs for both hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes. Portsmouth Regional Hospital is owned by HCA Healthcare, a respected healthcare provider that runs three hospitals, an ambulatory surgery center, two freestanding emergency rooms, an urgent care center, and 46 physician practices in New Hampshire. HCA Healthcare has 2,600 colleagues and 554 physicians on staff, provides $15.8 million in uncompensated care, and pays $43.8 million in taxes annually. Its other hospitals in New Hampshire include Parkland Medical Center in Derry, Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, and freestanding emergency rooms in Seabrook and Dover.
