Job Summary and QualificationsThe postpartum or mother-baby nurse is tasked with caring for both mother and newborn baby once a birth has taken place. This nurse utilizes a strong set of skills to recognize and act upon postpartum emergencies for both patients.

- Average 2800-3000 births annually.
- Support staff includes Nursery RN, Lactation Consultants, Birth Certificate Registrar, infant photography and newborn hearing screeners.
Responsibilities:
- The role of the Registered Nurse is to perform patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Director.
- The Registered Nurse provides therapeutic and administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
- The Registered Nurse Mother Baby unit cares for women of childbearing age and newborns.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. BSN preferred.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation. Ability to achieve and maintain BLS. NRP certification required within 30 days of hire. Professional certification in specialty practice area preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- One year experience required in Postpartum/Women's Health.

We have an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center. Our hospital is a premier area destination for Women's & Children’s healthcare services.
