Shift: Days
Pay: $22.80 - $29.64 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary:
Assist eye care providers in the fitting of Medically necessary Contact Lenses. Educates patients regarding appropriate contact lens products to meet the patient's needs.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direct supervision of eye care providers, demonstrate proficiency in contact lens fitting for appropriate lens type, parameters, and materials, including but not limited to Scleral Contact Lenses and Rigid Gas Permeable.
- Provide contact lens training for patients.
- Demonstrate proficiency in refractometry, lensometry, and corneal topography.
- Performs documentation and patient education and enters charges.
- Maintains trial lens inventories to optimal levels, and triages phone calls for the contact lens department.
- Communicates effectively with patients and providers regarding contact lens fitting and billing.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
- Minimum Experience: 2 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
