Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

  • Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure 
  •   American Heart Association BLS health care provider required
  • . ACLS, PALS and NRP within 6 months of hire.
  • Graduate of Respiratory Care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
  • Frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving equipment.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

Your duties and responsibilities may include:

  • You will be responsible for the application and operation of acute care ventilators used for continuous short and long-term mechanical ventilation.
  • You must be self-directed in the absence of the full-time Team Leader.
  • You will maintain all department and hospital records and enter accurate information into the hospital computer for the therapy as given.
  • You will perform you procedures with care and empathy for our patients.

HCA Florida Largo Hospital is a 455-bed statutory teaching hospital serving Pinellas County and patients across Florida. It is part of HCA Florida Healthcare, a family of more than 650 sites of care. It is the largest healthcare network in Florida. The hospital offers a number of specialty services. These services include advanced cardiac care ranging from minimally invasive heart procedures to heart transplantation. Also including complex GI services, kidney and liver transplantation, weight loss surgery, advanced stroke care, robotic surgery, and many other services. HCA Florida Largo Hospital's Graduate Medical Education program is affiliated with USF Morsani College of Medicine.
