Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Special Procedures Tech, you will operate medical diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in imaging procedures such as angiography and cardiac catheterization, as well as those performed in the Interventional Radiology (IR) Lab (scrubbing, circulating, and recording/monitoring patient status). Interventional Radiology Technologist responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility and performs procedures and care in a caring, compassionate, and respectful manner
  • Prepare and position patients and equipment in a safe, competent manner in accordance with established operating procedures
  • Accurately perform technical radiographic procedures in accordance with established operating procedures and routines
  • Assist in administration of contrast media in accordance with departmental policy and procedure
  • Obtain high-quality radiographic images and review quality of radiographs to ensure quality standards have been met
  • Obtain and document all pertinent patient information prior to exam, i.e., patient history, pregnancy, allergies and obtains informed consent 
  • Maintain effective communication with patient providing explanation of procedures within scope of practice as well as with caregiver colleagues to include radiologists
  • Responsible for rotating call assignments 

What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • State Registered Radiologic Technologist
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
  • Associate Degree

Lawnwood Hospital provides interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery. Lawnwood Hospital is a designated Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Physical Rehabilitation Center is CARF accredited. We are a Level II Trauma Center. We are verified by the American College of Surgeons. We offer a freestanding ER in Vero Beach. We provide emergency treatment for adults and children. We also offer the area’s only Level III Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units.
