Join us and help shape the future of senior living Position Summary: The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing the Housekeeping Department which includes management of the housekeeping supervisor and housekeeping staff. Ensures proper staffing levels within the team, ownership of the hiring process, efficiently managing department budget, expenses, and maximizing service levels. The Director of Housekeeping should ensure that the community is clean and safe for the residents, families, staff and visitors in partnership with housekeeping supervisor and other management staff. The Director of Housekeeping is also responsible for completing housekeeping tasks (as needed), which could include, but are not limited to, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, laundering residents’ personal laundry as well as bed linens and towels. Accountabilities: The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for supervising the housekeeping staff and ensuring the cleanliness of the building, and reporting any issues to the General Manager. Minimum Qualifications  At least two years of housekeeping management experience either in the hospitality industry or senior living Associates degree with 3 years of housekeeping management experience preferred High School diploma or equivalent required; and at least five years’ housekeeping management experience Experience with and passion for working with seniors Multilingual preferred, but not required  Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Personal Characteristics Oral and written comprehension and expression - Must be able to convey and understand information and ideas in English Basic computer skills, experience using maintenance software and Microsoft Office suite. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers, residents and guests Ability to stand for long hours and walk long distances without fatigue Ability to bend, stretch, stoop and reach repeatedly without difficulty Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels Free of communicable diseases Utilize technology as a means of communication necessary to support resident needs and ensure operational compliance as well as resident safety and security Typical Work Duties & Functions  Supervise all personnel in the Housekeeping & Laundry Departments Provide outstanding customer service to all residents, family members, responsible persons, and visitors of residents in the community Oversees the daily housekeeping schedule and staffing for the department Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline all Housekeeping personnel to Inspir Standards Responsible for training new team members and for ensuring ongoing training for all team members Provides performance feedback to housekeeping staff and monitors performance to ensure high quality services are being delivered consistently Maintain all supplies needed for department tasks and order supplies on an as-needed basis Create and manage a process for all laundry and housekeeping requests to ensure completion of task and resident satisfaction Attend stand-up, departmental and residence-wide meetings as required Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure safe and timely completion of tasks Oversees the cleanliness of the resident apartments in partnership with the Housekeeping Supervisor Ensures all bathrooms (public or private) are cleaned completely, including toilets, sinks, bathtubs/showers countertops, mirrors and the sterilization of floors Ensures clean kitchen areas, including counters, under counters, and mopping the kitchen floor Ensures all surfaces are dusted while at the same time caring for residents’ belongings Oversees the cleanliness of all common areas and housekeeping working spaces in the building, including but not limited to halls, landings, stairs, activity areas, lounges, kitchens, lobbies, elevators, laundry room, break room, and model apartments Ensures vacant apartments are “show ready” as assigned to the housekeeping department Orders and maintains stock of cleaning supplies, chemicals, bedding, laundry supplies, etc. as well as sustaining a positive partnership with any applicable vendors Identify, communicate and appropriately escalate housekeeping concerns to the General Manager or other management staff when applicable Oversees and ensures exemplary laundry services for our residents to ensure Inspir service standards Follows emergency procedures when necessary, i.e. such as when chemicals are accidentally misused Understands the practices surrounding proper handling of biohazardous waste and stores chemicals in accordance with proper procedures Participate in in-service training as required by state regulations Responsible for maintaining the procedures for Biohazards and Sharps storage and pick up with vendor Ensure all maintenance work is in accordance with State/Federal & OSHA standards.
