POSITION OVERVIEW

JGM is seeking a skilled Shop Fabricator and Welder to join our growing team. As our next Fabricator or welder, you will have the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and work in a positive, motivated work environment with growth potential. This position is f ocused around the careful, deliberate, and serious undertaking of the fitting and welding of structural steel assemblies. This role is primarily task-focused and does not rely heavily on interactive or social skills. This position reports to the Fabrication Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and interpret prepared shop drawings and measurements.
  • Layout, fit & weld parts per drawings and specifications. Check layout accuracy for other fabricators.
  • Back gouge using air carbon arc equipment.
  • Pre-heat and prepare steel as required to ensure the highest quality standard.
  • Material handled manually or by utilizing various jacks & overhead cranes.
  • Set up & operate hand and power tools such as magnetic drills, grinders, cutting torches and automated welding tractors as they relate to job needs.
  • Inspect & correct welds as needed to meet product specifications.
  • Inspect, maintain, and anticipate equipment functionality; communicate issues in a timely manner.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience fitting & welding the serious desire to learn the craft of fitting & welding.
  • Familiar with variety of welding processes: FCAW, SAW, GMAW, and/or GTAW.
  • Able to pass AWS D.1.1 3G weld test using FCAW.
  • Structural steel or metal fabrication experience highly preferred
  • Ability to deal in a systematic and patient way with factual and technical information and processes.
  • Must be disciplined, conscientious, and like to work with your hands.
  • Derive satisfaction from getting work "done right" the first time.
  • Safety focused, driver and champion of shop safety initiatives.
  • High School Diploma, or GED highly preferred.
  • Training or certification through a technical or trade school is a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Climb stepladders and extension ladders and stairs and work from a raised platform.
  • Operate tools properly and safely.
  • Operate high reaches, scissor lifts, fork-trucks, cranes, if properly trained.
  • Pass pulmonary tests to wear respirator.
  • Employee may be required to properly maintain drills, welding equipment, saws, ladders, levels, wrenches, hammers, safety equipment, all tools in the requirements list, etc.


ENVIRONMENT

Shop employees perform physically demanding work including lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some work can happen outdoors in all weather conditions. Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery. Some workers may be exposed to lead-based paint, asbestos, or other hazardous substances during their work especially when working in confined spaces. To avoid injury, workers in these jobs wear safety clothing, such as gloves, hardhats, protective chemical suits, and devices to protect their eyes, respiratory system, or hearing. It is important that all workers exercise caution and can deal with or identify a variety of hazards.

DESCRIPCIÓN GENERAL DEL PUESTO

JGM está buscando un fabricante de taller y soldador calificado para unirse a nuestro creciente equipo. Este rol se centra principalmente en las tareas y no depende en gran medida de las habilidades interactivas o sociales. Esta posición reporta al Superintendente de Fabricación.

RESPONSABILIDADES

  • Leer e interpretar dibujos y medidas de taller preparados.
  • Diseño, ajuste y soldadura de piezas según dibujos y especificaciones. Compruebe la precisión del diseño para otros fabricantes.
  • Gubia trasera con equipo de arco de carbono de aire.
  • Precaliente y prepare el acero según sea necesario para garantizar el más alto estándar de calidad.
  • Material manejado manualmente o utilizando varios gatos y grúas aéreas.
  • Configure y opere herramientas manuales y eléctricas como taladros magnéticos, rectificadoras, antorchas de corte y tractores de soldadura automatizados, ya que se relacionan con las necesidades del trabajo.
  • Inspeccione y corrija las soldaduras según sea necesario para cumplir con las especificaciones del producto.
  • Inspeccionar, mantener y anticipar la funcionalidad del equipo; Comunique los problemas de manera oportuna.


CALIFICACIONES

  • Experiencia previa en el montaje y soldadura el deseo serio de aprender el oficio de la fijación y soldadura.

REQUISITOS FÍSICOS

MEDIO AMBIENTE
