Job Summary and QualificationsThe Lead Cardiovascular Technician provides leadership by assisting physicians and training staff. Also meets the same criteria for all Cardiovascular Techs including assists the physician and the nurse with patient care; participates in patient/family teaching for pre and post procedures, provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary staff and other patient care personnel in maintaining standards of professional practice in the clinical cath lab setting.
What you will do in this role:
- Identifies own professional development and clinical learning needs; communicates them to management; and shares in the responsibility for fulfilling those needs.
- Actively participates in quality assurance measures implemented by Hospital and Cath Lab Policy and Procedures.
- Assists the nurse in evaluating the patient's response to care provided and to evaluate the teaching for pre and post procedure care.
- Collaborates with healthcare team to monitor patient's condition during the procedure and post-procedure.
- Communicates effectively to optimize patient care, express positive customer relations and contributes to a supportive an cooperative working environment.
- Complies with department, facility and system policies and procedures and is at work when scheduled, completing work in a timely manner.
- Expectations Ethics and Compliance 1. All employees will be held accountable for behaviors displayed relative to the values articulated in the Mission and Values Statement. “Will act with absolute honest, integrity and fairness in the way we conduct our business and the way we live our lives.” 2. All employees will be held accountable for attending training regarding the Code of Conduct program at least annually.
- Maintains and increases competence in health care and in the cardiovascular specialty and records attendance/participation at continuing education classes.
- Operates and observes physiological monitoring system during procedure, performs circulating duties, performs sterile scrub duties and assists physician and nurse during procedure.
- Participates in the assessment of patient's condition, including physical, psyschological, social and educational needs
- Performs other duties as required including the unit specific duties as identified on the Competency Skills Checklist; each room will be checked and re stocked as indicated prior to dismissal of the day (supplies, etc.).
- Responsible for circulating, monitoring and scrubing procedures.
- Shares acquired knowledge and skills with other members of the health team while continuously exhibiting professional behavior.
- Supports and exhibits behavior consistent with quality service.
What qualifications you will need:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Cardiovascular Inventional Specialist (RCIS) or Cardiovascular Interventional (CI) required
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Highly prefer CVT with 1+ years experience in Cath Lab; or EMT-I or higher certification with experience in EKGs.
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist, or Registered Radiographer (ARRT), or State Registered Radiologic Technician
