Description

Perform UT (optional VT, PT, and MT) Examinations in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A. Testing and inspection of products will be performed at various stages of production process in compliance with applicable codes, standards, or other specified requirements. Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand, comply, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment
  • Shall have a practical knowledge of all production processes.
  • Shall have the skills and knowledge to establish techniques; to interpret codes, standards, and specifications; designate the particular examinations methods, techniques, and procedures to be used; and to verify the adequacy of procedures.
  • Candidate must be experienced in training and development of lower-level NDT personnel.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable with applicable industry standards specifications and procedures.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams and confers with management or engineering staff to employ appropriate quality codes and standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • Shall be qualified to establish techniques and procedures; interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures; and designating the particular NDT methods, techniques, and procedures to be used.
  • Shall have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria where none are otherwise available.
  • Shall have general familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by the ASNT Level III Basic examination or other means. The NDT level III, in the methods in which certified should be capable of training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for certification in those methods.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Word, and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of metal fabrication and construction techniques.
  • 15+ years of progressive project experience in heavy civil construction environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to receive government clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required • Individual should have at least 5 years experience supporting NAVSEA Program Managers.
  • It is desired that the employee have a technical background in naval engineering and maintenance programs and a thorough understanding for budgeting and estimating costs for those types of activities.
  • Must have a knowledge of and entrée to NAVSEA, NSWC, MSC and USCG engineering codes and a proven ability to successfully market engineering services to them.
  • Ability to make decisions on behalf of the company in accordance with company policies.
