- Performs quality diagnostic procedures in an accurate and timely fashion. Operates MRI, CT and X-ray equipment and processes images as required. Prepares exam room, equipment, supplies and medication as indicated for the procedure/exam being performed. Practices proper radiation safety techniques on all exams and ensures his/her direct reports and other staff members follow the same precautions. Maintains safe environment for patients, co-workers and visitors. Supports and helps achieve the departmental and hospital goals. Provides services to all age groups (infant to geriatric).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Multimodality Technologist conducts procedures to provide data to assist in the diagnosis of patients. The position's tasks and responsibilities include:
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of magnetic resonance assessment and reassessment and implementation of the patient's orders in accordance with the department and organizational standards and policies
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of CT scans assessment and reassessment and implementation of the patient's orders in accordance with the department and organizational standards and policies
- Positions and prepares patients for exams according to the type of procedure to be performed
- Completes appropriate documentation for each study performed
- Performs all computer and PACS functions
- Observes safety regulations and aseptic practice techniques to protect patients and staff
- Maintains thorough knowledge of the scanners and exam protocols in order to ensure the highest quality procedures
- Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
- Assists with transporting patients.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity and a positive attitude. Initiative and judgment required in assuming responsibilities.
- Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.
- Under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs x-ray/fluoro procedures on patients.
- Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
- May administer barium salts or other chemical mixtures.
- Operates stationary equipment and/or portable equipment used in the Emergency Department, Operating Room, FSED and at patient bedside.
- Takes pictures and develops film.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education/Skills
- Technical or vocational training
B. Experience
- Prefer at least 1 year of MRI experience
C. Licenses, Registrations and/or Certifications
- ARRT (MR), MRT, and BLS obtained from HCA approved vendor. MRI certified within 6 month if hire date.
D. Specific Requirements
- Must be able to be on an on-call status and respond within sixty (60) minutes of notification. Must be able to work at the Surgical Hospital and FSED, depending on department needs.
